About the role
N26 is a digital bank with operations across Europe, and the Planning Analyst will be based in their Madrid office. This role supports the finance and strategy teams by providing analytical insights that guide business planning and decision-making across the organization. The Planning Analyst will work closely with cross-functional partners to build forecasts, track performance against targets, and identify trends that shape the company's strategic direction. The position is a full-time role situated in Madrid, Spain, and reports to the FP&A leadership team. The Analyst will contribute to both short-term operational planning and longer-term strategic initiatives that drive the bank's growth and efficiency. Key facts
What you'll do
- Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly business reviews for senior leadership and the board.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models that capture revenue, cost, and headcount projections across all business units.
- Collaborate with department heads across the organization to gather planning inputs and validate key assumptions.
- Monitor actual results against the approved plan on a regular basis and flag significant variances with clear explanations.
- Develop interactive dashboards and scheduled reports that visualize key planning metrics for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the annual budgeting cycle, including scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, and cross-functional coordination.
- Partner with the FP&A team to improve planning processes, enhance data accuracy, and streamline reporting workflows.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses to support strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and resource allocation discussions.
- Coordinate with the Madrid-based team to align local planning activities with global frameworks and corporate standards.
- Document planning methodologies and best practices for knowledge sharing across offices and future team members.
- Review and challenge departmental plans to ensure alignment with the company's overall financial targets and strategic priorities.
- Present planning results and recommendations to leadership during monthly business reviews and annual strategy sessions.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related quantitative field is required.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated proficiency in Excel and financial modeling techniques.
- Ability to work with large datasets and translate complex numbers into clear written narratives.
- Good communication skills for presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
- Attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving are essential for this role.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with planning or budgeting processes in a corporate or financial services setting.
- Fluency in English is required; Spanish language skills are considered a valuable advantage.
