About the role
N26 is seeking an experienced iOS Engineer to join the Digital Identity team, where you will design and build mobile features that power identity verification and authentication workflows within the N26 banking application. In this role, you will take ownership of critical user-facing screens that enable customers to securely set up, manage, and verify their digital identity directly from their mobile devices. You will collaborate closely with backend engineers, product managers, security specialists, and UX designers to translate complex identity requirements into intuitive and reliable iOS experiences. The position is based in one of our European offices and offers the opportunity to work on a foundational part of the banking product that touches every customer interaction, with room to grow through mentorship, internal tech talks, and broader engineering initiatives.

What you'll do
- Design and implement iOS screens for identity verification and authentication workflows within the mobile app
- Collaborate with backend engineering teams to integrate identity verification APIs into the mobile client
- Write clean, maintainable Swift code following established coding standards and architectural patterns
- Participate in code reviews to ensure quality standards and share technical knowledge across the team
- Build and test new features that improve the customer onboarding and identity setup experience
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs related to digital identity features in both development and production environments
- Contribute to architectural decisions that shape the mobile identity layer and its interaction with backend services
- Work with product managers to refine requirements and deliver actionable implementation plans on schedule
- Maintain and extend existing identity-related UI components and view controllers across multiple app screens
- Support A/B testing frameworks and feature flag integrations to enable gradual rollout of identity features
- Document technical approaches and design decisions for future reference and ongoing team knowledge sharing
- Optimize existing identity screens for performance, accessibility, and responsiveness across different device sizes
Requirements
- Proficiency in Swift and the iOS SDK with demonstrated experience building production-quality mobile applications
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and the integration of backend services into mobile client applications
- Understanding of identity verification concepts including authentication flows, secure token handling, and session management
- Experience with version control using Git and following branching strategies and merge request workflows
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex technical challenges
- Comfortable working in an agile development environment with iterative delivery cycles and regular sprint planning
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineering colleagues and non-engineering stakeholders
Nice to have
- Experience with biometric authentication frameworks such as Face ID or Touch ID on iOS devices
- Familiarity with identity providers and protocols including OAuth2 or OpenID Connect for authentication
- Prior experience working in fintech or banking applications with security-sensitive and compliance-driven features
- Knowledge of SwiftUI or Combine frameworks for building modern declarative iOS user interfaces
- Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines for mobile application delivery and deployment
- Familiarity with mobile analytics tools and performance monitoring for tracking feature adoption and user behavior
