Senior Backend Engineer

You will collaborate closely with your Tech Lead on architecting new features and seeing them through to completion from initial design to production deployment. You will design, develop, test, deploy and maintain software in a thriving environment that values ownership and delivery. This role provides opportunities to mentor junior members in the team by relentlessly guarding code quality through pull requests and helping them when they have questions to foster growth. You will stay up to date with the latest trends in technology and you are not afraid to propose some findings during our Get Stuff Done Days to drive innovation. You will work within your cross-functional team to uphold the highest technical standards right across the product and ensure alignment with business goals. You will contribute to building robust customer identity verification systems that underpin frictionless and innovative banking services. Your work will directly support proactive risk management and seamless customer support functions.

Requirements

Experience in developing software using a JVM language and Spring Boot in large-scale production systems (note: experience of Kotlin would be a plus).

Sound understanding of microservice architecture and how services communicate in distributed systems.

Knowledge of both relational and non-relational databases, preferably Postgres, including performance tuning and query optimization.

Appreciation of working in a modern cloud architecture, preferably with AWS, including infrastructure as code and containerization.

Full professional proficiency in English for clear communication with cross-functional stakeholders.

This role operates within standard working hours as defined by company policy and local regulations. Travel may be required between Berlin and Barcelona offices as needed for team collaboration.
