About the role
This role owns the end-to-end editorial strategy and platform experience for Mozilla's public-facing ecosystem. You will define how Mozilla tells its story across Mozilla.org, social channels, and flagship publications. You act as the editorial conductor, ensuring that the most important narratives from across the organization are surfaced and shaped for maximum impact. You will translate complex topics like open-source AI and digital sovereignty into accessible stories for broad audiences. This position requires deep editorial judgment, creative ambition, and strategic partnership with product, communications, and policy teams. You will orchestrate a cohesive narrative about Mozilla's work and its relevance to the future of the internet.

What you'll do
Define and lead Mozilla's global editorial strategy across Mozilla.org and associated digital channels to ensure clarity and coherence in public messaging.
Co-create content frameworks with communications teams across the Foundation and Mozilla's subsidiaries to align narrative development and maintain a unified voice.
Establish Mozilla.org as the canonical "front page" for Mozilla by curating, commissioning, and publishing content from across the organization and external partners.
Oversee the redesign and ongoing evolution of Mozilla.org as a dynamic storytelling platform that reflects the evolving Mozilla ecosystem.
Work across the entire Mozilla portfolio to surface cross-team stories, identify emerging themes, and elevate underreported initiatives.
Partner with product and policy teams to translate technical and policy developments into compelling narratives for both specialist and general audiences.
Develop and maintain an editorial calendar that balances timely news with long-form storytelling and evergreen content.
Shape the tone, structure, and visual language of major editorial projects to ensure they meet Mozilla's accessibility and openness standards.
Collaborate with data and research teams to surface insights that can be transformed into narrative-driven content.
Champion inclusive storytelling practices that reflect the diversity of Mozilla's communities and global reach.
Assess content performance across platforms and iterate on editorial approaches to improve engagement and impact.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on communications strategy and help prioritize topics based on organizational goals.
Support the development of flagship publications and editorial products that reinforce Mozilla's thought leadership.
Build relationships with external writers, contributors, and partner organizations to enrich Mozilla's storytelling ecosystem.
Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, as no work authorization sponsorship is available for this role.
Must be able to demonstrate education, work history, or other evidence of at least eight years of relevant professional experience.
Must reside in the United States at the time of application, as this role requires U.S.-based employment eligibility.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this role remotely while working from within the United States.
Must be available to work during standard business hours, as core collaboration times with U.S.-based teams are required.
Must have a strong portfolio demonstrating editorial leadership, including examples of storytelling across digital platforms.
Must have direct experience managing editorial calendars, content strategy, and cross-functional collaboration in a complex organization.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to diverse audiences.
Nice to have
Experience working within the technology, nonprofit, or advocacy sectors and understanding of their distinct communication needs.
Experience with content management systems and digital publishing platforms.
Background in journalism, media, or communications with a demonstrated track record of impactful storytelling.
