The Senior Commodity Manager will own the commercial strategy for cable, battery, PCB, and connector, translating design intent into resilient and cost-optimized supply plans. You will act as the primary commercial interface between engineering, operations, and the supply base, ensuring product availability while protecting margin. You will lead cross-functional initiatives from concept to production, embedding cost and risk discipline into early design decisions. You will partner with procurement, finance, and operations to align sourcing decisions with customer demand and business objectives. You will drive data-based negotiations and supplier development to secure long-term competitive advantage. You will be accountable for end-to-end supply assurance, preventing disruptions and enabling predictable delivery.
Key facts
What you'll do
Build and publish the sourcing strategy for cable, battery, PCB, and connector, defining technology roadmaps, supply landscape, cost trends, and investment rationale.
Establish a Preferred Vendor List that gives Engineering a clear, well-supported set of partners to design toward, reducing rogue spend and design-in risk.
Run quarterly deep-dives on the supply base with engineering and quality counterparts, spotting emerging technology early and qualifying second sources before they are required.
Drive meaningful cost reduction through a Total Cost of Ownership approach, capturing unit price, logistics, duty, and channel margin in every business case.
Report every number on a Landed Cost basis so Finance and leadership are working from a single, transparent cost picture.
Lead RFQs on all new projects over $50k, backed by clean-sheet costing and should-cost modeling to enter negotiations with clear target economics.
Own supply assurance end to end, including BOM scrubs, multi-sourcing, expediting, and allocation management during tight supply periods.
Partner with planning and operations to protect build schedules and surface risk early enough for the team to take timely action.
Run QBRs with top-tier suppliers against clear scorecards covering OTD, quality, cost, and technology, and convert insights into concrete improvement plans.
Coordinate the cross-functional response when supply issues escalate, ensuring the right stakeholders are engaged and decisions are timely.
Embed with design teams at the concept phase, translating technical requirements into commercial strategy and cost/ lifecycle realities into design-friendly terms.
Translate complex supply chain data into short, clear summaries that help leadership prioritize investments and manage trade-offs.
Champion components with long-term lifecycle support, ensuring new designs avoid premature obsolescence and costly redesign cycles.
Act as the primary point of contact for strategic suppliers, aligning their capabilities with Motive's quality, delivery, and innovation expectations.
Requirements
7+ years of experience in sourcing and supply chain management, with a focus on board electricals for consumer electronics, automotive or related industries.
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, business administration, or a related field.
Demonstrated negotiation skills and proven experience in contract management.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive strategic decisions.
Experience with global supplier management and working in cross-functional teams.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and resolve conflicts.
Authorized to receive and access commodities and technologies controlled under U.S. Export Administration Regulations.
Must be currently authorized to work in Taiwan and able to work from the Taipei location without sponsorship.
