What you'll do
- Lead and manage the air operations team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and efficiency.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize air freight processes, improving turnaround times and reducing costs.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including airlines, freight forwarders, and customs officials, to facilitate smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Monitor air cargo shipments from origin to destination, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends and areas for improvement, making data-driven decisions to enhance service quality.
- Prepare and present reports on air operations performance to senior management, highlighting key metrics and areas for development.
- Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the air operations department.
- Manage relationships with key clients, ensuring their needs are met and addressing any concerns promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with the finance department to manage budgets related to air operations, ensuring cost-effective practices are in place.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in regulations affecting air freight, adapting operations as necessary to maintain compliance.
- Implement and oversee safety and security protocols within air operations, ensuring that all staff are trained and compliant with best practices.
- Collaborate with IT and logistics teams to enhance operational systems and tools, ensuring that technology supports efficient air operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in air freight operations or logistics management, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong understanding of air cargo regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven mindset.
- Proficient in logistics software and tools, with a strong aptitude for technology.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in vendor management.
Nice to have
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CLTD, or similar).
- Experience with international air freight operations and customs regulations.
