About the role
You will develop and manage financial models for the evaluation of investments in debt and equity across all real estate asset classes, reviewing potential transactions for the proper balance of feasibility and risk. You will assist in commercial loan underwriting by conducting initial and ongoing due diligence for loan transactions including evaluating appraisals, market studies, project capital need assessments, financial statements and credit reports for the project and its Principals, insurance policies and endorsements. You will assist in the preparation of loan commitments to borrowers while interfacing with clients, outside attorneys, and other investment stakeholders involved in a particular transaction to obtain required documentation. You will support the surveillance and asset management of Monticello's portfolio of investments across debt and equity, maintaining direct daily interface with borrowers, financing counterparties, investors, and firm stakeholders. You will monitor, analyze, model, re-underwrite, and report the following: property (occupancy, operating, strategic, clinical performance, changes to the competitive landscape), loan (financial condition), borrower (KYC, regulatory / reputational standing) and portfolio post-closing obligations information. You will review and interpret complex mortgage and working capital loan documents in order to enforce and forecast financial covenants, trigger events, and general loan compliance, identifying and escalating potential concerns. You will supervise the review and processing of extensions, payoffs, amendments, advances, surveys, reserves, capex, and construction draw requests, and insurance proceeds. You will assist in origination and underwriting through data analytics, participation in site and corporate entity due visits, and borrower financial and operational risk due diligence. You will facilitate the company's growth by identifying and developing process efficiency improvements, including the development and enhancement of the firm's custom designed technologies. You will travel as required and work in the office as required by office policy.

What you'll do
- Construct and maintain intricate financial models to evaluate debt and equity investments across diverse real estate sectors.
- Perform exhaustive due diligence in commercial loan underwriting, analyzing appraisals, market studies, capital needs, financial statements, credit reports, insurance policies, and endorsements.
- Prepare loan commitments for borrowers while ensuring strict compliance with documentation requirements.
- Interface directly with clients, external attorneys, and investment stakeholders to secure necessary transaction documentation.
- Monitor and supervise the surveillance and asset management of Monticello's debt and equity portfolio performance.
- Maintain daily communication with borrowers, financing counterparties, investors, and internal firm stakeholders.
- Analyze and model property occupancy, operating metrics, strategic performance, clinical performance, and competitive landscape changes.
- Assess loan financial conditions, borrower KYC, regulatory standing, and reputational risks continuously.
- Process extensions, payoffs, amendments, advances, surveys, reserves, capex, construction draws, and insurance proceeds with rigorous oversight.
- Conduct data-driven origination and underwriting through site visits, corporate due diligence, and borrower operational risk assessment.
- Drive process efficiency improvements and technology enhancements to support company growth initiatives.
- Comply with travel requirements as dictated by transaction needs and portfolio oversight duties.
- Adhere to office attendance policies as mandated by corporate workplace guidelines.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrate strong Excel proficiency in all financial modeling tasks.
- Possess a minimum of 4 years of work experience in a relevant field.
- Have a finance, credit, legal, real estate and/or business background.
- Exhibit extensive technology skills necessary for modern financial operations.
- Show established organizational skills and the ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects efficiently.
- Prefer familiarity with multi-family housing, senior housing, health care and/or renewable energy sectors.
- Possess effective oral and written communication skills to liaise with borrowers, financing counterparties, and external parties.
- Show advanced financial analytical proficiency along with the ability to "see the big picture."
- Demonstrate a strong grasp of logic and data analytics.
- Exhibit passion for the firm and passion for what we do in the asset management space.
- Maintain intellectual curiosity by consistently asking the "Why?" question in professional contexts.
