Technical Director, Builder Relations

We are on the lookout for a Technical Director to enhance our Builder Relations team, specifically focusing on the APAC region. In this position, you will lead a talented group of Advocates, fostering engagement with both customers and the developer community. Your efforts will be instrumental in positioning MongoDB as the go-to data platform among developers, driving meaningful experiences and valuable content.

What you'll do

• Oversee and inspire a dedicated team that emphasizes customer and community engagement throughout the APAC region.
• Position yourself as a leading authority in document schema design, leveraging your in-depth understanding of MongoDB's foundational and AI capabilities.
• Organize and conduct schema design review sessions for client development teams, providing guidance on architectural decisions and optimizing MongoDB usage for their specific workloads.
• Facilitate interactive developer enablement sessions, catering to audiences that can range from 40 to 400 attendees.
• Collaborate closely with Marketing, Sales, and other internal teams to develop and disseminate impactful enablement content tailored for key accounts.
• Share effective engagement strategies with customers and the community, track business outcomes, and compile feedback and insights gathered by your team for continuous improvement.
• Mentor and support team members, including Solutions Architects and Marketing partners, fostering a collaborative ecosystem.
• Drive initiatives that enhance the overall developer experience and promote MongoDB's capabilities within the community.

Requirements

• At least a decade of experience working alongside development or engineering teams on database schema design, with a proven track record of implementing high-performance, scalable database solutions, including a minimum of five years in a consulting capacity.
• A minimum of five years of experience in leadership roles, managing and recruiting technical teams, including engineers or advocates.
• Exceptional presentation abilities, with a knack for leading technical sessions at both public events and online platforms.
• A portfolio that demonstrates your contributions to code and content aimed at enhancing developer engagement and awareness.
• Willingness to travel as needed, up to 60% of the time, to meet with clients and attend events.
• Strong analytical skills to assess customer needs and adapt strategies accordingly.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in a customer-facing role, such as a solution architect or a similar technical position, is advantageous.
• Familiarity with AI technologies and their practical applications in enhancing productivity would be beneficial.
• Experience in creating educational content or resources for developers, showcasing your ability to convey complex concepts in an accessible manner.

• Profound expertise in database technologies, with a strong capacity to quickly adapt to MongoDB's environment and tools.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in distilling intricate technical concepts into easily understandable formats for diverse audiences.
• Proven track record of building relationships and engaging with developers across various skill levels, from novices to experts.
• Familiarity with modern development practices and tools that support database management and application development.
