MongoDB is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to become a vital member of the Atlas Clusters team. This group is dedicated to improving MongoDB Atlas, our fast-growing database-as-a-service platform. Atlas empowers users to effortlessly create secure, resilient, and globally distributed MongoDB clusters. The role involves developing software that integrates with leading cloud providers like AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring top-notch security, reliability, and performance.

What you'll do

• Design and implement innovative features for MongoDB Atlas to enhance user experience.
• Take the lead on complex technical initiatives while also contributing to team projects.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders across MongoDB to influence product development and strategy.
• Engage directly with customers and support engineers to troubleshoot issues and participate in the on-call rotation.
• Work closely with team members to improve the codebase, establish coding standards, and refine design methodologies.
• Foster a workplace culture that values inclusivity and respect, in line with MongoDB's core principles.
• Analyze system performance and identify areas for improvement to optimize the overall functionality of Atlas.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality software delivery and mentor junior engineers.
• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to keep MongoDB at the forefront of innovation.
• Document technical specifications and design decisions to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
• Contribute to the development of internal tools that enhance team productivity and efficiency.
• Advocate for best practices in software development and promote a culture of continuous learning.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of professional experience in software development.
• Strong expertise in building large-scale, distributed backend systems using a compiled programming language such as Go, Java, or C#.
• Familiarity with at least one of the major cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proven experience in deploying and managing a new module in a live production environment.
• A passion for solving complex challenges and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• A self-driven, curious mindset with a collaborative spirit.

Success Measures

• Within the first three months, you will have successfully deployed code into production and collaborated with your team to address intricate challenges.
• By the six-month mark, you will have made meaningful contributions to a significant project and will be an active participant in the on-call rotation.
• After a year, you will have designed new features, led development initiatives, and established yourself as a key expert on specific components of the system.
