About the role
MongoDB is experiencing rapid growth and is seeking a dynamic, detail-focused individual to join our Revenue Team as a Revenue Lead. Based in our Gurugram, India office, this position will focus on analyzing complex revenue transactions, addressing technical revenue accounting matters, and communicating the accounting implications to our business partners. Additionally, the role includes participation in month-end and quarter-end closing processes and mentoring a small team of revenue accountants located in Gurugram.

What you'll do
- Serve as a subject matter expert on revenue accounting transactions in accordance with ASC 606 and related financial reporting standards.
- Oversee the execution of quarterly reviews and year-end financial audits conducted by external auditors.
- Participate in month-end closing activities, which involve various revenue analyses, journal entries, account reconciliations, and revenue recognition tasks.
- Evaluate sales transactions within the company's ERP systems to ensure data accuracy and the integrity of revenue schedules, including revenue allocations.
- Review and confirm different revenue streams to ensure appropriate revenue treatments.
- Assess contract documentation to ensure revenue recognition aligns with ASC 606 standards.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing analytics for executive-level presentations, both internal and external.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with key internal stakeholders, including GL, OTC, FP&A, and Business Systems, on ongoing new product initiatives.
- Support special projects and respond to ad hoc requests as needed.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required (CA or CPA designation is preferred) along with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity at a public, high-growth SaaS or technology firm.
- Proven experience in revenue operations, revenue recognition, and reconciliation processes, including familiarity with sales data, customer contracts, and new product offerings.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 is essential.
- Experience in hiring, managing, and mentoring high-performing teams is necessary.
- Proficient in MS Excel and adept at handling large data sets.
- Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems, particularly NetSuite and Salesforce.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and deadline-oriented with the capacity to drive projects to completion independently.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and business partnering skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across various levels within the organization.
Success Measures
- A successful candidate will effectively navigate a fast-paced, global environment and show a strong interest in revenue advisory processes.
- Within 30 days, you will become familiar with our business, product offerings, and revenue streams.
- Within 3 to 6 months, you will understand our internal systems, operational workflows, and accounting close tasks assigned to you, performing them independently.
- Within 6 to 9 months, you will have established relationships with key business partners such as GL, OTC, FP&A, and Business Systems, addressing issues as they arise.
- After 12 months, you will be recognized as a key resource for GTM Operations and will support all triage responsibilities.
