We are seeking a skilled software engineer to join our team, focusing on building the foundational infrastructure for our Application Modernization Platform. This role involves addressing infrastructure challenges and developing enterprise-level platforms that cater to diverse client needs while ensuring compliance with security protocols.

What you'll do

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering team members, promoting a culture of innovation and quality.
• Lead the development of distributed infrastructure for the Application Modernization Platform, facilitating a self-service SaaS model in client-controlled environments.
• Design and implement an orchestration layer that oversees authentication, telemetry, and the lifecycle of modernization tools.
• Create a client-side application that manages developer workflows and securely interacts with hosted services.
• Address complex operational challenges, including designing interfaces for DevOps that manage users, secrets, and updates.
• Collaborate with security and product teams to ensure safe execution of code generation and LLM-based tasks, safeguarding client data and MongoDB's intellectual property.
• Act as a hands-on leader, assisting the team with technical issues related to container security and data sharing across services.

Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software development and operations, particularly in platform and distributable software infrastructure.
• At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role, mentoring engineers to achieve impactful results.
• Extensive experience in designing distributable applications for air-gapped or highly restricted network environments.
• Strong expertise in containerization and orchestration, with the ability to develop systems that run containerized applications under stringent security conditions.
• Experience in building Service Host architectures that provide shared routing, proxy layers, and API gateways for various services.
• Proficient in managing persistent storage solutions within distributed systems.
• Knowledge of security-first design principles, especially regarding untrusted code execution, fine-grain access control, and thorough input validation.
• Experience in creating auto-update mechanisms for software that cannot access the public internet directly.
• A curious mindset, positive attitude, and a commitment to continuous learning.

• Gained a comprehensive understanding of our architecture and the specific constraints related to deploying software in large enterprise environments.
• Established yourself as the technical leader within the team, influencing technical decisions.
• Started mentoring team members and collaborating with product teams to define platform integrations.
• Successfully guided the team to deliver a prototype or initial version of the Deployment Platform that supports the core modernization toolset.
• Designed a streamlined process for platform updates that adheres to client security requirements.
• Developed a consistent execution rhythm and served as a role model for a high-performing team.
• Gained recognition as the technical expert in deployment and operations within MongoDB.
• Delivered a stable, production-ready platform that enables Field Engineering teams to deploy tools efficiently.
• Contributed significantly to recruiting and expanding the engineering team.
