As a Senior Consulting Engineer, you will serve as a technical partner for organizations ranging from high-growth startups to established global financial enterprises. This position provides a unique vantage point to influence complex technical architectures, solve high-stakes challenges in sectors like trading and e-commerce, and establish yourself as a thought leader within the MongoDB ecosystem.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Lead the end-to-end technical lifecycle of client engagements, encompassing initial discovery, strategic planning, architectural design, implementation, and performance optimization.
• Act as a primary technical mentor by conducting high-impact training workshops for client development, architecture, and operations teams.
• Partner closely with internal project managers, account executives, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure delivery and client success.
• Serve as a trusted advisor, translating complex business requirements into scalable, high-performance MongoDB data architectures.
• Influence the future of the MongoDB product suite by providing actionable feedback and insights to the internal Product and Engineering departments.
• Diagnose and resolve complex performance bottlenecks, ensuring that client applications meet rigorous availability and latency standards.
• Develop custom scripts, tools, and documentation to streamline deployment processes and improve operational efficiency for your clients.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing within the Professional Services team to elevate the collective technical expertise of the organization.
• Manage multiple high-priority client projects simultaneously, balancing immediate technical needs with long-term strategic goals.
• Represent MongoDB's technical vision at client sites, ensuring that best practices are implemented across all levels of the client's infrastructure.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in software engineering, technical consulting, or enterprise-level technical support.
• Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with a proven ability to deconstruct and solve multifaceted technical problems.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills, including the confidence to present technical concepts to diverse audiences, including C-suite stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of enterprise software architecture patterns and modern application development lifecycles.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language, such as Java, C++, C#, Python, Node.js, Ruby, Perl, Scala, or Go.
• Hands-on experience working with diverse database technologies, including MongoDB, Oracle, MS SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Strong command of Linux diagnostics, performance tuning, and system-level troubleshooting.
• A high degree of professional flexibility, including the willingness to travel frequently for short-term, on-site client engagements during the workweek.
• Full professional proficiency in English and the ability to communicate effectively in the local language where required.

Nice to have

• Demonstrated experience successfully managing large-scale cloud migration projects.
• Previous exposure to distributed systems or NoSQL database architectures beyond MongoDB.
• Familiarity with Windows-based system tuning and administration.
• Experience working in a client-facing or consultative capacity within a global technology firm.
