What you'll do
- Develop and implement comprehensive policy strategies that support Bamboohr' objectives in advancing research and innovation across Canada.
- Conduct thorough analyses of existing policies and identify opportunities for improvement or new initiatives that align with Bamboohr' goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that policy recommendations are informed by research findings and stakeholder input.
- Engage with government officials and policymakers to advocate for policies that promote collaboration between academia and industry.
- Prepare and present policy briefs, reports, and recommendations to senior management and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of policies on Bamboohr' programs and initiatives, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
- Organize and participate in stakeholder consultations, workshops, and events to gather insights and foster dialogue on key policy issues.
- Stay informed about national and international trends in research and innovation policy, ensuring that Bamboohr remains at the forefront of relevant discussions.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry representatives, and academic institutions.
- Support the development of communication materials that articulate Bamboohr' policy positions and initiatives to various audiences.
- Contribute to the preparation of funding proposals and reports that demonstrate the impact of Bamboohr' work on the Canadian innovation ecosystem.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align policy initiatives with Bamboohr' strategic priorities and operational goals.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in public policy, political science, or a related field is required; a Ph.D. is an asset.
- At least 5 years of experience in policy development, analysis, or advocacy within the research or innovation sectors.
- Proven track record of engaging with government officials and stakeholders to influence policy decisions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable policy recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Familiarity with the Canadian research and innovation landscape, including funding mechanisms and policy frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software relevant to policy research.
Nice to have
- Experience working in a non-profit or academic environment focused on research and innovation.
- Knowledge of international research collaboration frameworks and best practices.
- Familiarity with the Canadian federal and provincial government structures and processes related to research funding.
- Experience in public speaking and representing an organization at conferences or public events.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
