What you'll do

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new machinery tailored to specific manufacturing needs.
• Assemble and test machinery components, ensuring they meet design specifications and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during the assembly process, applying your problem-solving skills to minimize downtime.
• Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Document the assembly process and create detailed reports on machine performance and any modifications made.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine efficiency and reduce production costs.
• Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians on best practices in machine assembly and maintenance.
• Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to incorporate innovative solutions into our machinery.
• Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality components and materials for machine assembly.
• Participate in project planning and execution, ensuring that timelines and budgets are adhered to.
• Assist in the development of safety protocols and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during machine assembly.
• Provide technical support to production teams, addressing any machinery-related issues that arise during operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in machine assembly or a similar engineering role.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.
• Proficiency in using CAD software for designing and modifying machine components.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting mechanical issues.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to machinery and manufacturing processes.

Nice to have

• Experience with automation and robotics in manufacturing settings.
• Certification in Six Sigma or other quality improvement methodologies.
• Previous experience in a similar industry, such as automotive or consumer goods manufacturing.
• Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
• Additional certifications in mechanical or electrical engineering.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for design and modeling.
• Strong analytical skills for evaluating machine performance and identifying areas for improvement.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with PLC programming and control systems is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting purposes.

• This position is based in Castlepollard, Westmeath, and may require occasional travel to supplier sites or other Bamboohr facilities.
• The successful candidate will be expected to work standard hours, with the possibility of overtime during peak production periods.
