What you'll do
- Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of issues, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and contract negotiations, specifically tailored to the fintech industry.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies, ensuring they align with the company's strategic goals and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product, compliance, and business development teams, to identify legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
- Monitor and analyze changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations, providing timely updates and recommendations to senior management.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal standards and best practices.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other service providers, ensuring that the company receives high-quality legal support while controlling costs.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on various legal issues affecting the company, providing clear and actionable insights.
- Support the company in dispute resolution processes, including litigation and arbitration, by developing strategies and overseeing the execution of legal actions.
- Participate in training sessions for employees on legal compliance and risk management, fostering a culture of awareness and adherence to legal standards.
- Contribute to the company's strategic initiatives by providing legal insights during the planning and execution phases of new projects and business ventures.
- Engage in due diligence processes for mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships, ensuring that all legal aspects are thoroughly evaluated and addressed.
- Maintain accurate and organized legal documentation, ensuring that all records are up to date and easily accessible for internal and external audits.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a corporate legal environment, with a strong focus on fintech, technology, or related sectors.
- Proven track record of drafting and negotiating complex contracts and legal documents.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory frameworks applicable to the fintech industry, including anti-money laundering (AML) and data protection laws.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical legal solutions.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders effectively.
- Experience in managing external legal counsel and overseeing legal projects from inception to completion.
