About the role
Melio is looking for a Senior Product Designer to drive the user experience of our B2B payment platform from initial concept to final launch. You will work independently to shape design strategy while partnering with internal teams and external financial institutions to support small business owners. In this capacity, you will define the vision for critical user flows and ensure that the product remains intuitive and efficient for its target audience. You will act as a key advocate for the user, balancing business objectives with real-world usability in a regulated industry. Your work will directly influence how thousands of small businesses manage their payments and cash flow. This role requires a strategic thinker who can translate complex requirements into clear and elegant design solutions. You will be responsible for creating a cohesive experience that spans multiple touchpoints and financial partners.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the end-to-end design process for key platform features and partner-specific experiences, from discovery through delivery.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineering leads, and Principal Designers to align design output with company roadmaps and technical constraints.
- Coordinate with design teams at major U.S. financial institutions to maintain a unified user experience across integrated platforms.
- Conduct user research and testing to gather feedback, identify friction points, and iterate on prototypes to validate solutions.
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions and highlight opportunities for innovation.
- Participate in team rituals including design critiques, stand-ups, and story creation to ensure alignment and shared understanding.
- Propose new methods for cross-team collaboration to improve project outcomes and streamline communication between stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain design systems and component libraries to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficiency in production.
- Create high-fidelity interactive prototypes and visual designs that clearly communicate functionality and aesthetic intent to stakeholders.
- Advocate for best practices in accessibility and usability to ensure the platform serves a diverse range of small business owners.
- Translate business requirements and technical limitations into user-centered design strategies that meet both user and company needs.
- Mentor junior designers by providing constructive feedback and guidance on design principles and execution techniques.
- Track industry trends and emerging design tools to continuously elevate the quality and effectiveness of the product experience.
- Present design concepts and rationales to cross-functional audiences, ensuring clarity and alignment on decisions and trade-offs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional product design experience within a software company, demonstrating a track record of successful launches.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX/UI projects that highlight problem-solving, strategy, and execution.
- Ability to work independently and drive initiatives with minimal supervision, taking ownership of complex challenges.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a consistent design language and brand integrity.
- Capability to communicate design decisions clearly to diverse stakeholders and cross-functional partners, including non-designers.
- Experience working within a global team across different time zones, showing flexibility and empathy in collaboration.
- A proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments where priorities can shift quickly and adaptability is essential.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality design assets that are production-ready.

- Previous experience in fintech, specifically with B2B payment platforms, providing context for financial workflows and regulations.
