May Mobility is on the lookout for a Senior Autonomy Applications Engineer to play a pivotal role in the launch of new fleets. This position demands hands-on involvement with various aspects of the system, spanning both hardware and software components. The role will also require significant travel, potentially reaching up to 50% of your time, as you work closely with different operational sites.

What you'll do

• Lead the deployment process for new autonomous vehicle services, ensuring smooth initiation and operation.
• Design and set up autonomous technologies tailored for diverse operational environments.
• Evaluate various locations to pinpoint and tackle specific technical hurdles related to traffic patterns and conditions.
• Act as the technical face of May Mobility, representing the company to clients and the general public.
• Plan and execute demonstrations showcasing our autonomous technology to potential clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers from multiple teams to refine system features and enhance the overall user experience.
• Mentor junior Field Autonomy Engineers, providing guidance and support for their professional growth.
• Analyze performance data from autonomous vehicles to inform improvements and optimizations.
• Troubleshoot technical issues in real-time during deployments and provide immediate solutions.
• Contribute to the development of best practices and standard operating procedures for autonomous vehicle operations.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to align on project goals and timelines.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in autonomous technology to ensure May Mobility remains at the forefront of innovation.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant industry experience, demonstrating a strong background in autonomy applications.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse audiences.
• Hands-on experience in the design and implementation of mechanical, electrical systems, or software development.
• A strong eagerness to acquire a comprehensive understanding of all elements of the autonomous system.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Java, or similar languages.
• Experience in mobile robotics or working with autonomous vehicles is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems, including proficiency with common command line tools.
• Willingness to travel frequently, with an estimated travel requirement of up to 50%.
• Ability to operate and drive May Mobility vehicles safely.
• A valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record is essential.
• Willingness to undergo a verification process for your driving record.

Nice to have

• A Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is a plus.
• Experience in software design and development, particularly with C, C++, and/or Python.
• Familiarity with autonomous vehicle regulations and safety standards.

Skills & tools

• Strong programming skills in languages such as C, C++, Python, and Java.
• Comfortable working within Linux environments and utilizing command line tools effectively.
• Experience with simulation tools and software for autonomous systems is an advantage.

Salary Range

$92,000 - $114,000 USD
