As a Software Engineer II on the Data Platform team, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines that support our autonomous vehicle operations and data analytics. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the integrity, efficiency, and usability of our data infrastructure. Key facts
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain robust real-time and batch data pipelines that process vehicle sensor data, operational logs, and other relevant datasets.
- Build and optimize data libraries and APIs that facilitate efficient data access, transformation, and analysis for internal teams and external partners.
- Collaborate with front-end developers to improve data visualization tools and dashboards used for fleet management and monitoring.
- Work with data scientists, product managers, and engineers to understand data needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Take ownership of technical projects by defining scope, setting milestones, and discussing potential improvements with team members and stakeholders.
- Conduct thorough testing of data pipelines and processing systems, applying standard methodologies to improve performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Implement data quality assurance processes, including validation, monitoring, and alerting systems to maintain high data integrity.
- Document data architecture, pipelines, and APIs clearly to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing across teams.
- Participate in code reviews, team meetings, and technical discussions to uphold best practices and continuous improvement.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to data engineering, cloud computing, and distributed systems.
- Support deployment and scaling of data infrastructure on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Assist in troubleshooting data pipeline issues and resolving production incidents promptly to minimize downtime.
- Contribute to the development of internal tools and automation scripts to streamline data workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Engage in professional growth activities, including training, certifications, and knowledge sharing, to enhance your technical expertise.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on data engineering or related areas.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming principles.
- Hands-on experience working with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including deployment and management of data solutions.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools to automate testing, integration, and deployment processes.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, data warehousing, and data lake concepts.
- Experience with scripting languages like Python, Java, or Rust for data processing tasks.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance considerations relevant to cloud-based data systems.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes is a plus.
- Experience with real-time data processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies and collaborative software development practices.

- Prior experience developing and managing large-scale data pipelines in cloud environments.
- Understanding of data warehousing, data lake architectures, and related tools.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and scalable data processing frameworks.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $157,000 USD
