Since our inception in 2017, we have assembled a talented team of roboticists and software engineers with extensive experience in deploying robotic systems in real-world settings. We are seeking to enhance our team of robotics engineers who have a strong background in robotics or autonomous vehicles.

What you'll do
- Oversee integration testing processes throughout the autonomy stack, coordinating software deliveries from various development teams and managing the complete integration cycle.
- Ensure a stable integration branch by managing merge requests, resolving conflicts, and maintaining branch standards across a large, multi-team codebase.
- Design and implement automated test pipelines and CI/CD infrastructure to facilitate continuous integration of autonomy software.
- Conduct simulation-based testing campaigns to validate system performance across diverse scenarios and operational conditions.
- Organize and execute on-vehicle tests to assess integrated autonomy software in real-world situations, providing actionable feedback for development.
- Develop and monitor performance metrics and KPIs for the autonomy system, generating clear reports on system status for the engineering team.
- Troubleshoot integration failures and performance issues, collaborating with development teams to conduct root-cause analysis and implement solutions.
- Contribute features and bug fixes to resolve integration challenges or issues identified during testing.
- Collaborate with perception, planning, and controls teams to ensure alignment on subsystem interfaces, anticipate integration risks, and coordinate delivery schedules.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with a strong mathematical or engineering foundation (e.g., physics, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering), or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant industry experience with real-world autonomous vehicle or robotic systems.
- Proven experience with system-level integration testing, including simulation and hardware-in-the-loop or on-vehicle validation.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with git-based development practices, including branch management, merge request reviews, and conflict resolution in extensive codebases.
- Proficiency in software development within a Linux environment.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with AV or robotics simulation platforms (e.g., Simian, CARLA, Gazebo, or similar).
- Understanding of major autonomy subsystems - behavior planning, prediction, perception, or controls - to effectively diagnose integration issues across subsystem boundaries.
- Experience in developing performance dashboards, data visualizations, or automated reporting tools for engineering teams.
- Background in ADAS development or safety-critical software validation.
Skills & tools
- Strong systems-level understanding of autonomous vehicle or robotic software architecture, including interactions between perception, planning, and controls subsystems.
- Methodical approach to software integration, capable of managing complexity across multiple concurrent development streams.
- Ability to design test scenarios using simulation tools that reveal significant edge cases and system-level behaviors.
- Competence in analyzing quantitative performance data, identifying trends or regressions, and effectively communicating findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Capacity to make integration decisions and prioritize testing without needing complete information or fully defined processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in producing engineering reports or system status summaries for diverse audiences.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams, managing competing priorities and dependencies with multiple stakeholders.
Practical notes
- This is a hybrid position based in Ann Arbor, MI, allowing for remote work alongside office attendance based on an agreed schedule.
- Travel may be required up to 25% during peak demand periods.
Salary Range
$150,000 - $170,000 USD
