What you'll do
- Create, develop, and maintain algorithmic components for cloud applications using Python, Scala, or Java.
- Build scalable data processing solutions on AWS cloud infrastructure utilizing Spark for large dataset transformations.
- Design and implement new features for cloud-based mapping products that enhance data quality and usability.
- Collaborate with research and development teams to integrate analytical solutions into existing mapping workflows.
- Work alongside senior engineers to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability of data services.
- Participate in thorough code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge across the engineering team.
- Test new components rigorously and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and standards.
- Partner with product managers and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver solutions that satisfy customer and business requirements.
- Implement data pipeline orchestration using tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or Luigi to automate workflows.
- Process and validate geospatial data ensuring adherence to strict quality metrics and industry standards.
- Optimize SQL queries for performance and correctness within distributed database environments.
- Document technical designs and procedures to support maintenance and future development efforts.
- Assist in debugging complex issues in production environments to minimize downtime and data inconsistencies.
- Support the deployment of mapping solutions that meet the needs of diverse industries including automotive and logistics.
Requirements
- Demonstrate proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Scala, or Java, writing clean and maintainable code.
- Possess experience developing data processing applications or pipelines on AWS or another cloud platform with proven reliability.
- Show strong SQL skills including knowledge of query execution plans and optimization techniques for large datasets.
- Exhibit understanding of distributed computing concepts and hands-on experience with distributed data processing frameworks like Spark.
- Have familiarity with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or Luigi to manage complex pipelines.
- Apply knowledge of software engineering best practices including version control using Git, testing, and structured code reviews.
- Maintain strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail in all tasks.
- Communicate technical ideas clearly and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Use good verbal and written communication skills in English on a daily basis.
