This role involves designing and deploying sophisticated AI workflow tools that empower our operations team.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Participate in all stages of product creation, from initial concepts to final delivery and ongoing improvements.
- Develop dependable, scalable backend services to support AI features in a live environment.
- Construct and advance backend services and APIs that consolidate, enhance, and present extensive real estate data.
- Create and refine user interfaces and backend functionalities that make complex data understandable, reliable, and actionable.
- Assess and compare the performance of Large Language Models concerning speed, expense, accuracy, and the generation of incorrect information.
- Take ownership of technical decisions for critical systems within Mainstay's platform that influence investor choices.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data teams to turn business needs into lasting technical solutions.
- Enhance system reliability, performance, and ease of maintenance as the platform expands.
- Modernize and automate existing real estate processes by replacing manual analysis with software-driven insights.
- Guide other engineers through code reviews, technical advice, and shared responsibility for team standards.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience developing and launching production-ready software in a dynamic, early-stage startup environment.
- Demonstrated practical experience in creating and deploying AI features for production use.
- Strong understanding of AI-first principles and established software development practices.
- Proficient full-stack engineering abilities with a primary focus on backend development.
- Extensive experience in designing, building, and managing scalable backend systems, preferably using Python.
- Solid frontend development skills with React or comparable modern frameworks.
- Experience with systems that handle large amounts of data, are analytics-focused, or manage workflows.
- Sound technical judgment, with the ability to balance speed of delivery, accuracy, and long-term system health.
- Clear and effective communication skills for a remote, collaborative setting.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with a strong sense of ownership.

Mainstay is a Christian rock band from Minneapolis, USA. The group formed in the early 2000s and built a following through regional touring and independent releases.
