Product Designer
Job description
About the role
Luminai requires a Product Designer to own the end-to-end design of the core platform. This role converts ambiguous operational workflows into reliable product experiences used in production. The work focuses on enabling doctors and administrators to prioritize patient needs through automated workflows. You will be responsible for translating intricate operational realities into coherent, user-centered designs that support clinical and administrative staff in their daily work. This position demands a deep commitment to understanding complex problems and crafting solutions that are both functional and trustworthy in high-stakes environments. You will work at the intersection of technology and healthcare operations, ensuring that the tools built are not only usable but also genuinely useful for the people on the front lines. Success in this role is measured by how well the design system and individual products support the people who rely on them to deliver care.

Experience designing complex workflows, dashboards, or enterprise tools is required for success.
Solid UX fundamentals must coexist with strong visual design instincts in daily execution.
Comfort working closely with Product and Engineering is necessary in highly collaborative environments.
Ability to turn ambiguous, loosely defined problems into clear, usable solutions is essential.
Comfort operating in environments where healthcare regulations and data sensitivity shape design constraints.
Practical notes
Typical interview steps
Design interviews usually include a portfolio review, a design exercise, and a team conversation. Candidates present past work and explain their process and decisions. Some loops include a live design challenge. Communication matters as much as the visual output. Portfolios are strongest when they show the problem, the constraints, and the iteration, not just the final screens. Interviewers also watch how you take feedback.
Good to know
Product Designers operate at the intersection of operations and technology in data-sensitive fields.
Design systems and component libraries support consistency across complex user journeys.
Prototyping tools and workflow mapping methods help teams validate ideas before implementation.
Cross-functional collaboration requires clear communication between design, product, and engineering roles.
Design decisions in healthcare operations often involve balancing regulatory constraints with user needs.
Questions to ask
Useful questions for the interview: what a typical week looks like, how work is assigned, what tools the team uses, and how feedback works. Asking how the role has changed recently and what the team wishes it had known when joining is also reasonable. Questions about the manager's priorities are especially valued.
Career growth
Design careers grow from junior to senior, staff, and principal levels. Some designers move into design management or design operations. Specializations include UX research, interaction design, and brand design. Cross-functional influence grows with seniority. Senior designers are expected to influence product strategy, not just execute visuals. Building a habit of user research strengthens any design career.
About the company
Healthcare operations have always depended on people to bridge the gaps that technology couldn't. It relies on complex manual work to carry out critical internal processes, yet most health systems don't have enough resources to properly automate these tasks, leaving them stuck in outdated, labor-intensive SOPs.
