The EHS Area Manager plays an essential role in establishing and promoting a culture of safety within the Industrial Services specific areas they are assigned, focusing on compliance with both internal EHS policies and external regulatory requirements. This position involves overseeing EHS protocols across multiple locations, ensuring that each site adheres to the highest standards of workplace safety and health. By conducting regular audits, providing training, and implementing EHS programs, the EHS Manager works to minimize risks, reduce workplace accidents, and maintain a safe, healthy environment for all employees. Through collaboration with various departments and leadership teams, this role supports the organization's commitment to safety, demonstrating the importance of proactive measures in safeguarding the well-being of its workforce.

What you'll do

Coordinate and oversee EHS training programs for all employees within the area, including but not limited to emergency response, hazardous material handling, and personal protective equipment protocols. Develop and implement comprehensive EHS management systems tailored to the specific operational risks of each assigned site under their purview. Conduct rigorous site audits and inspections to verify adherence to established safety procedures and regulatory standards, documenting all findings meticulously. Analyze complex safety data and incident reports to identify root causes and formulate corrective actions that prevent future reoccurrence. Collaborate closely with project managers and operational leaders to integrate safety protocols into planning and execution workflows. Perform thorough risk assessments for all activities, ensuring that appropriate controls are established before work commences on any project. Serve as the primary advisor on EHS matters, providing expert guidance and consultation to cross-functional teams and department heads. Investigate all reported incidents and near-misses thoroughly, producing detailed reports that inform systemic improvements across the organization. Promote a culture of proactive safety awareness, encouraging employee participation in hazard identification and reporting mechanisms. Maintain current knowledge of evolving regulations and industry best practices to ensure the company's EHS programs remain cutting-edge and compliant. Champion continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing workplace incidents and enhancing overall operational safety performance. Liaise with external regulatory agencies and stakeholders to ensure transparent communication and compliance during inspections or inquiries. Support the development and delivery of safety documentation, policies, and communication materials for all levels of the organization. Drive the execution of EHS performance metrics and reporting to senior leadership, highlighting achievements and areas for further development.

Requirements

Demonstrated expertise in environmental, health, and safety management within a relevant industrial or construction services context. Possess a thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations and how they apply to field operations. Hold a proven track record of managing EHS programs for complex projects with multiple simultaneous site activities. Show strong competency in utilizing EHS management systems, data analytics, and reporting tools to drive decision-making. Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical safety information to diverse audiences. Display strong leadership abilities with a history of guiding teams, mentoring staff, and fostering a positive safety culture.
