About the role
You will serve as the primary financial strategist for your division, owning the end-to-end management of all forward-looking planning, analysis, and reporting. This role requires you to act as a trusted advisor to the Divisional CFO and President, translating complex financial data into clear narratives that drive strategic action. You will own the development of dynamic forecasts and budgets, ensuring they reflect the realities of our project-based, construction-centric business model. Your expertise will be critical in simplifying intricate financial scenarios while maintaining rigorous analytical discipline. You will establish and maintain processes that enhance real-time margin visibility across all projects. This position demands sound judgment and the ability to anticipate financial outcomes amid shifting priorities. What you'll do
- Drive the strategic financial agenda for the division by leading all forecasting, budgeting, and planning initiatives with precision and ownership.
- Act as the main business partner to project teams and operational leaders, embedding finance directly into day-to-day decision workflows.
- Translate complex financial outcomes into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Consolidate and harmonize financial data from diverse sources to ensure consistency and reliability in corporate reporting.
- Partner with Corporate FP&A to synchronize month-end close activities, WIP updates, and enterprise financial review packages.
- Validate key financial drivers such as labor trends, open commitments, change orders, and billing completion to strengthen projection accuracy.
- Model cash flow dynamics and evaluate forward cash positioning to support liquidity management and strategic investments.
- Lead margin analysis through variance and trend reviews, uncovering root causes behind performance deviations.
- Coordinate closely with Project Controls to review budget updates and confirm alignment on labor, materials, and commitments.
- Perform in-depth bid margin analysis to stress-test pricing assumptions and support competitive decision-making.
- Review change order logs rigorously and assess financial impacts and risks in partnership with project managers.
- Deliver detailed job-level financial analysis that highlights profitability trends, risk exposure, and improvement opportunities.
- Own the preparation of management reporting, ensuring insights are timely, relevant, and visually intuitive.
- Champion the use of financial scenarios and sensitivity analyses to guide strategic and operational choices.
Requirements
- You possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field with a strong quantitative focus.
- You hold a CPA certification or are actively pursuing CPA licensure, demonstrating your commitment to accounting excellence.
- You bring a minimum of eight years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis within a construction or project-based industry.
- You have proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strict attention to detail.
- You are highly proficient in Excel and financial modeling, with the ability to build robust forecasts and scenario analyses.
- You have experience working with ERP and financial systems, enabling you to extract, validate, and interpret data effectively.
- You understand revenue recognition principles specific to long-term contracts and project-based businesses.
- You demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
- You are comfortable operating independently and collaboratively within a matrixed organization that values ownership and accountability.
