About the role
Life360 is seeking a Director of IT to lead and mature its IT Operations and Engineering functions. This role is responsible for enterprise identity, endpoint management, corporate infrastructure, and collaboration tools, with a focus on an AI Native approach to enhance productivity and employee experience.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Direct the strategy and execution for IT Operations and Engineering, covering enterprise identity, endpoint management, network infrastructure, collaboration tools, and end-user services.
- Develop and maintain a technical roadmap, providing leadership with clear insights into IT quality, risks, and investments.
- Build and develop a high-performing IT team, fostering an engineering-centric skillset and establishing new roles as the function grows.
- Establish and uphold high service level standards by refining the IT operating model, focusing on service ownership, response times, availability, and an excellent employee experience.
- Collaborate closely with the CISO and Information Security teams to ensure all services and processes adhere to safety standards.
- Identify and implement AI Native tools and automation to boost internal productivity and employee workflows, aligning with Life360's AI Native transformation.
- Manage IT vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and budget planning in partnership with Finance and Procurement.
- Act as the primary escalation point and executive sponsor for significant IT incidents, migrations, and large-scale initiatives.
Requirements
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in IT, with at least 7-8 years in a senior leadership capacity overseeing multiple teams or functions.
- Profound practical understanding of modern IT infrastructure, including identity and access management, endpoint management, cloud collaboration platforms, and enterprise networking.
- Proven experience integrating AI tools and automation into IT operations and employee productivity workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise security-first judgment and collaborate effectively with Security and Compliance teams.
- Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement decisions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, particularly with non-technical audiences.
- Comfort operating in a global, high-growth environment where systems and headcount scale rapidly.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Experience leading IT or corporate engineering for a remote-first or high-growth technology company, utilizing a modern cloud-based technology stack (e.g., Okta, Jamf, SaaS collaboration tools) rather than traditional on-premise systems.
- Hands-on experience developing or deploying AI agents and automation into IT or employee workflows, with documented use cases and measurable outcomes.

Practical notes
- Salary range: $167,000 - $245,000 USD. Final salary will be determined by factors such as background, experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and location.
- Compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package with medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, plus equity.
