About the role
This role will define the strategy for Life360's core platform, ensuring its speed, dependability, and observability as the user base grows to hundreds of millions. You will establish benchmarks for a premier consumer platform, identify key performance indicators, and collaborate across engineering, operations, and leadership to achieve these goals.

What you'll do
- Proactively identify potential platform limitations and implement necessary fault tolerance and capacity measures to prevent issues before they arise.
- Integrate performance and reliability as core product requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
- Enhance system visibility through advanced telemetry and monitoring, providing all teams with clear insights into system health.
- Develop company-wide platform key performance indicators to guide product and engineering efforts in delivering high-quality, rapid releases.
- Collaborate with engineering leaders to pinpoint and address systemic risks that could impede growth, such as location accuracy or performance bottlenecks.
- Translate complex platform data and infrastructure constraints into actionable insights, articulating areas of slowdown, future scaling needs, and strategic investment priorities.
- Partner with various stakeholders to understand user growth demands and create a forward-looking strategy to accommodate future scale.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years in product management, with substantial experience at a principal or staff level involving broad cross-functional responsibilities.
- Demonstrated success in managing platform, infrastructure, or developer-focused products within a rapidly expanding consumer technology company, preferably serving hundreds of millions of users.
- Proficiency in performance and reliability engineering, along with observability methodologies; prior experience with digital mapping and location services is highly beneficial.
- Strong understanding of back-end systems coupled with a deep empathy for both internal developers and end consumers.
- Experience in fostering alignment within large, complex engineering organizations.
- Excellent analytical skills, utilizing quantitative data and qualitative feedback to define and maintain high standards.
- Superior written and verbal communication abilities, capable of simplifying intricate technical details into clear business objectives for diverse audiences.
- High degree of ownership and a proactive approach to problem-solving, mobilizing relevant parties to address challenges.
- Well-defined perspectives on the intersection of consumer technology with security, privacy, trust, and compliance.

- US-based salary range: $178,500 - $261,500. Final salary will depend on experience, skills, and location.
