What you'll do
- Assume ownership of the analysis required for pet insurance state rating plans and associated filings.
- Translate complex underwriting and pricing logic into preparation of rate filing documentation for new machine learning applications.
- Monitor portfolio performance metrics to identify emerging pricing trends and opportunities for targeted underwriting actions.
- Architect and develop reusable tools and dashboards that automate key pricing analyses and deliver real-time support to business stakeholders.
- Conduct competitive intelligence efforts to build a comprehensive understanding of rival rating methods and broader market dynamics.
- Drive your personal progression by preparing for SOA or CAS exams, contributing to industry research, and integrating new methodologies into your daily tasks.
- Partner with the data science team to validate models and ensure that predictive outputs are accurately reflected in rate structures.
- Evaluate large datasets to support rate reviews, ensuring that assumptions are robust and aligned with actual loss experience.
- Serve as the liaison between the actuarial function and operational teams to ensure clarity and alignment on pricing objectives.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all methodologies and calculations to support audits and regulatory inquiries.
Requirements
- Successfully completed 2 or more SOA or CAS actuarial exams, demonstrating foundational knowledge in probability and financial mathematics.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Prior experience or demonstrable familiarity with data science programming languages such as R or Python is mandatory.
- Proven proficiency with SQL to query databases and extract reliable data sets for analysis.
- Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to dissect complex problems and devise logical, data-backed solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills paired with the capacity to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- A willingness to maintain a consistent presence in the Soho office, requiring three days of in-person work per week.
- An eager and proactive attitude toward learning new technologies and applying artificial intelligence to enhance operational workflows.
