Technical Product Manager, Consumer + AI
Job description
Technical Product Manager, Consumer + AI at Legion Health.
About the role
Legion Health is constructing a new model for medical services delivery, centered on an AI-native care infrastructure. The company believes every individual should have access to fast, affordable, and high-quality medical care. To realize this, Legion is developing autonomous medical capabilities, beginning with psychiatry. The company holds the distinction of being the first to obtain regulatory approval for AI to prescribe psychiatric medications. This achievement enables a dual reduction in administrative and clinical labor costs, shifting the industry's economic foundation from human-dependent to technology-driven operations. The core of Legion's advantage lies in its hard-to-replicate technical moat. This moat is formed by the combination of rich data, production-level artificial intelligence, clinicians involved in the loop, and comprehensive end-to-end care operations. These elements work together to deliver measurable improvements in patient outcomes. The company has already facilitated over 25,000 total patient visits within a two-year period. During this growth phase, operational expenses have been held flat, and the company has achieved industry-leading patient Net Promoter Scores and retention rates. Legion distinguishes itself from prior healthcare startups, which typically focused on incremental improvements to existing systems. Instead, Legion is rebuilding full-stack care delivery based on fundamental principles. The stated vision is to create a 10-fold enhancement in the patient experience, making it higher quality, less expensive, and more scalable. A parallel 10-fold improvement is intended for the clinician experience, empowering providers to concentrate on direct patient care. Legion Health is supported by Y Combinator, prominent venture capital firms, and founders originating from Function Health, Modern Health, Everly Health, Trusted Health, Clipboard Health, PatientPing, Sesame Care, Faire, EasyPost, and fuboTV. The company is currently seeking individuals to join the team in building the future of healthcare, characterized by increased speed, quality, and affordability, powered by a collaboration between doctors and artificial intelligence.

The Opportunity
Legion is seeking a Technical Product Manager, Consumer + AI. In this position, you will be responsible for owning the consumer product experience. The goal is to transform AI-native care delivery into a journey that patients understand, trust, utilize, and wish to revisit. This role is not a technical program management position, an enterprise roadmap coordination function, or a "growth PM" role with healthcare terminology applied superficially. You will have ownership of significant product surface areas across the entire patient journey. This includes discovery, onboarding, eligibility determination, scheduling, preparation for visits, provider matching, clarity in care plans, medication workflows, follow-up processes, renewals, messaging, support interactions, retention efforts, and reactivation moments. The objective is to create experiences that make patients feel secure enough to return. The ideal candidate possesses sufficient technical acumen to comprehend APIs, data models, event instrumentation, AI workflows, edge cases, and system constraints. Simultaneously, you must maintain a consumer-centric mindset, understanding that the best product experiences often feel obvious, calm, and human. You should be capable of immersing yourself in a patient problem, mapping the underlying clinical and operational workflow, drafting a clear product specification, prototyping the interaction, instrumenting the funnel, collaborating closely with engineering and design, launching the feature, and evaluating its effectiveness. As a modern consumer AI software company that delivers medical care, Legion maintains a product standard comparable to industry leaders such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Character.AI, Replit, Oura, WHOOP, Duolingo, Chime, Monarch, and the top consumer health companies. This environment requires a professional who can bring an equivalent level of product taste, technical speed, and retention-focused thinking to a regulated, high-trust sector where quality and safety are paramount. This is a high-ownership individual contributor role that offers founder-level visibility. You will work directly with engineering, design, clinical, operations, growth, data, compliance, and the founders to transform complex, real-world care delivery into simple and powerful product experiences.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of core patient-facing product surfaces across the complete consumer journey, including discovery, onboarding, eligibility, scheduling, visit preparation, provider matching, care-plan clarity, medication workflows, follow-up, renewals, messaging, support, retention, and reactivation.
- Translate intricate clinical, operational, regulatory, and AI workflows into simple consumer experiences that reduce patient anxiety, increase clarity, and provide precise guidance on next steps.
- Build durable product systems rather than one-off features. Examples include a patient timeline, care status indicators, task management, reminders, notifications, escalation paths, asynchronous messaging, support deflection mechanisms, eligibility logic, provider availability management, and follow-up workflows.
- Partner with engineering teams to define APIs, events, and data models while respecting system limitations and the realities of AI workflows.
- Collaborate with clinical and compliance teams to uphold safety standards and translate regulations into usable product rules.
- Test prototypes with real patients, monitor funnel performance, and make data-driven decisions on which changes enhance trust and retention.
- Develop reusable modules for provider matching, medication workflows, and follow-up processes designed to scale across psychiatry and future service lines.
- Launch features focused on retention, renewal, reactivation, and support deflection to maintain patient engagement.
- Work with external partners to align Legion's platform with other health ecosystems and referral networks.
Requirements
- Bring a background of 5+ years in product management, with experience in consumer or patient journeys and regulated environments.
- Demonstrate the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment where context changes rapidly and ambiguity is high.
- Show a track record of delivering complex consumer products that scale, with a strong focus on retention and user trust.
- Possess sufficient technical literacy to communicate effectively with engineering teams regarding APIs, data models, event instrumentation, AI workflows, edge cases, and system constraints.
- Exhibit a consumer-centric mindset, with the empathy and insight required to understand patient needs and behaviors deeply.
- Maintain a high degree of comfort navigating regulatory and compliance considerations within a healthcare context.
- Communicate clearly and persuasively, both in writing and verbally, to align cross-functional stakeholders on product vision and trade-offs.
- Approach problem-solving with rigorous analytical thinking, balancing qualitative insights with quantitative metrics to drive decisions.
