Staff Product Engineer
Job description
About the role
You will act as a technical anchor within a small, high-impact engineering squad that is responsible for reshaping how modern teams operate, translating the vision of proactive HR workflows into robust technical reality. You will own the design and delivery of intelligent systems that sit at the intersection of product, engineering, and people operations, ensuring that every feature serves a clear business outcome. This role requires you to challenge existing assumptions, balance speed with long-term architectural integrity, and advocate for solutions that are both user-centric and technically sustainable. You will be responsible for building the foundational layers of context, security, and orchestration that allow our platform to deliver personalized and autonomous experiences. Ultimately, you will set the standard for how artificial intelligence and human collaboration function together within a unified HR technology stack.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Provide strategic technical partnership by acting as a peer to product and design, challenging assumptions, shaping scope, and influencing the roadmap to ensure solutions address real user problems within the HR domain.
- Design and build scalable applications that integrate LLM-driven agents and RAG pipelines, enabling autonomous execution of complex workflows across the entire interconnected Leapsome platform ecosystem.
- Own the end-to-end delivery of complex full-stack features and multi-agent AI workflows, making high-level architectural decisions that balance speed, scalability, and maintainability while building reusable components.
- Architect secure data pipelines and robust access management systems to safely handle sensitive employee and company data across our interconnected tool stack, maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
- Analyze agent performance analytics, workforce insights, and process outcomes to iteratively refine features, ensuring that proactive triggers and nudges generate measurable business return on investment.
- Champion engineering excellence by contributing to robust testing, monitoring, and code review processes, and by pioneering dedicated AI evaluation suites, strict tool calling schemas, and human-in-the-loop safety fallbacks.
- Drive organizational learning by mentoring peers, codifying standard engineering and AI patterns into the codebase, and establishing best practices that accelerate the team's delivery and quality.
- Build foundational context layers and security architecture that power a variety of AI and non-AI features, supporting the full employee lifecycle from onboarding to development.
- Utilize Vue.js, Node.js, and MongoDB to construct conversational and chat-based UI/UX components that are intuitive, responsive, and aligned with modern design principles.
- Leverage AI developer tooling such as Cursor, CodeRabbit, and Deep Research to accelerate learning, automate repetitive tasks, and rapidly iterate on solutions.
Requirements
- You are a hands-on engineer with extensive full-stack experience, capable of making high-level architectural decisions that balance trade-offs between speed, scalability, and maintainability.
- You have a strong background in building and integrating AI-driven systems, including experience with LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agent orchestration frameworks.
- You possess deep expertise in modern frontend technologies, specifically Vue.js, TailwindCSS, and the creation of intuitive design systems that drive high adoption.
- You are proficient in backend development with Node.js (TypeScript), Express, MongoDB, and NATS, demonstrating a history of building scalable and modular services.
- You have a proven track record of securing sensitive data and architecting robust access management systems for complex, interconnected tool stacks.
- You are experienced in analyzing quantitative data and qualitative insights to drive iterative product improvements and validate business impact.
- You are passionate about setting engineering standards, establishing best practices, and mentoring other engineers to elevate the entire team's capabilities.
- You have a strong understanding of the HR domain and the unique challenges involved in building technology that supports people operations at scale.
Nice to have
- Experience with advanced AI evaluation frameworks (LLM-as-a-judge) and the implementation of strict schemas for tool calling.
- Familiarity with infrastructure and deployment practices on AWS using Docker and related containerization technologies.
- Background in people management platforms or HR technology ecosystems.
- Contributions to open-source projects or a portfolio demonstrating complex agentic workflows and autonomous systems.
