Key facts
What you'll do
- Examine and investigate alerts related to anti-money laundering activities across various program partners.
- Perform thorough due diligence and ongoing assessments of cannabis-related clients.
- Draft Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) specific to the marijuana industry, adhering to FinCEN guidelines for different filing types.
- Contribute to the creation and refinement of transaction monitoring rules designed for specific financial typologies.
- Manage the complete onboarding and continuous monitoring process for cannabis-related businesses, including license validation and ownership verification.
- Conduct periodic reviews of business accounts, verifying cash deposits, sales figures, and transaction patterns against licensed operational profiles.
- Assist with regulatory examinations and internal/external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Investigate alerts concerning negative news, sanctions screening, and license compliance issues.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in BSA/AML compliance.
- Prior experience within the fintech or cannabis banking sectors is beneficial.
- Proven ability to file marijuana-specific SARs in line with FinCEN's guidance for the Marijuana Retailer Business (MRB) sector.
- Solid understanding of BSA compliance frameworks and how AML responsibilities are distributed within partner programs.
- Experience using AML transaction monitoring systems such as Abrigo BAM+, Actimize, or Verafin.
- Familiarity with cannabis compliance tools like METRC, BioTrack, Shield Assure, or RiskScout.
- Capacity to analyze state cannabis license data, understand different operational structures (dispensary, cultivator, processor), and assess their consistency with banking activities.

Practical notes
- Salary range: $65,000 - $70,000 USD
