About the role
This position involves being the main point of contact for cannabis industry clients, building strong connections and addressing their banking and financial service needs. You will guide licensed cannabis operators through banking options, compliance, and maximizing the benefits of Dama's offerings.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage a client portfolio of 100-200 licensed cannabis businesses, including growers, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers.
- Cultivate lasting client relationships through consistent communication, account reviews, and strategic guidance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, identifying client requirements and suggesting suitable banking and payment solutions.
- Address client inquiries and resolve issues promptly, coordinating with internal departments like Compliance, Operations, Product, and Sales.
- Conduct regular business reviews to gauge client satisfaction, understand operational changes, and uncover growth opportunities.
- Ensure client activities adhere to cannabis banking regulations, BSA, AML, KYC standards, and state-specific rules.
- Stay informed about changes in cannabis regulations and communicate relevant updates to clients.
- Discover avenues to strengthen client partnerships and increase the adoption of Dama Financial products.
- Contribute to client retention efforts and overall portfolio expansion goals.
- Monitor industry trends, market shifts, and competitor activities in the cannabis and financial services sectors.
- Represent the company at industry events and trade shows to foster client connections and support business development.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Banking, Communications, or a related field, or possess equivalent professional experience.
- Have 2-5 years of experience in relationship management, commercial banking, financial services, account management, customer success, or B2B client services.
- Possess strong skills in client relationship building and problem-solving.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication abilities.
- Be capable of managing multiple client relationships within a dynamic, highly regulated setting.
- Have experience using CRM systems and business reporting tools.
Nice to have
- Experience working with cannabis businesses, regulated industries, fintech, payments, commercial banking, treasury management, or compliance-focused financial services.
- Knowledge of cannabis industry regulations and operational processes.
- Familiarity with BSA/AML, KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) requirements.
- Understanding of cash-intensive business operations and risk management strategies.
- Experience collaborating with compliance, risk, and operations teams.
