What you'll do

Lead the design and development of electrical and instrumentation systems for energy projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and develop detailed design specifications.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to identify potential challenges and propose effective solutions.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including design calculations, specifications, and reports.
Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems, ensuring they meet project specifications and performance criteria.
Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring timely resolution.
Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance the company's engineering capabilities.
Participate in project meetings and presentations, effectively communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies throughout all phases of project execution.
Collaborate with procurement teams to select appropriate materials and equipment for projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
Contribute to the development of engineering standards and procedures, promoting consistency and efficiency across projects.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
A minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation design, preferably within the energy sector.
Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations, including NEC, IEEE, and ISA.
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar tools.
Experience with control systems, PLC programming, and instrumentation design.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools is an asset.
Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation in Ontario is preferred.

Nice to have

Experience with renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, or hydroelectric systems.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as they relate to industrial control systems.
Familiarity with environmental regulations and sustainability practices in engineering design.
