Become a vital member of the AgentControl team, where you will focus on creating essential applications that engage customers while also working on large-scale distributed systems tailored for AI evaluations. Your contributions will directly impact the tools that empower customers to manage, observe, and enhance their agent functionalities.

What you'll do
- Design and maintain resilient backend services, distributed systems, and APIs that are integral to the AgentControl product.
- Utilize programming languages such as Go, Python, and TypeScript, while integrating with various technologies including AWS, CockroachDB, Datadog, DeepEval, and FastAPI.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to tackle real-world challenges and optimize AI workflows.
- Focus on continuously enhancing system performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Engage in architectural and design discussions, weighing trade-offs and making informed decisions that benefit the project.
- Keep abreast of the latest advancements in AI technology and software development methodologies.
- Take ownership of production code, participate in on-call rotations, and work towards improving system maintainability.
- Analyze user feedback and system metrics to inform iterative improvements and feature enhancements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing within the team.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and high-quality standards.
- Document processes and systems to facilitate knowledge transfer and onboarding of new team members.
- Engage in troubleshooting and debugging of complex issues in a timely manner.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of deploying full-stack features to production environments.
- Hands-on experience in developing Generative AI features or working with Large Language Models (LLMs), either through direct implementation or by utilizing AI services such as OpenAI, Google Cloud AI, or AWS Bedrock.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, or deploying AI services in live environments.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Demonstrated ability to produce production-ready code with an emphasis on quality and maintainability.
- Background in distributed systems or data ingestion pipelines is essential.
- Strong understanding of fundamental computer science principles.
- A collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills are crucial for success in this role.
- Ability to navigate uncertainty in a fast-paced, evolving environment and a keen interest in being at the forefront of AI technology.
- Proven track record of ownership and accountability in delivering impactful solutions.
- Capability to work closely with Product and Design teams to define requirements in an iterative manner.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and services, particularly AWS.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for web applications.
- Understanding of security best practices in software development.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools.

Practical notes
Compensation for this position varies based on geographic zones within the United States:
- Zone 1 (San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC Metro, Boston, Seattle): $171,200 - $235,400
- Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago): $154,100 - $211,860
- Zone 3 (All other US locations): $145,500 - $200,090
This salary range is supplemented by Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), as well as health, vision, dental insurance, and mental health benefits. The final compensation will depend on individual skills, experience, and location.
