What you'll do
- Facilitate technical explorations, design system architectures, and create proof-of-concept implementations during the pre-sales process.
- Work closely with account executives and customer success teams to effectively communicate the technical benefits of our products.
- Deliver compelling presentations, lead workshops, and craft proposals tailored for both executive leaders and technical teams.
- Establish and nurture trusted relationships with clients, identifying key technical advocates and positioning yourself as a vital strategic ally.
- Relay customer insights and requirements to internal product and engineering teams to influence the product development roadmap.
- Oversee technical initiatives across various regions and contribute to the enhancement of global Solutions Engineering tools and methodologies.
- Provide mentorship to junior team members, advocate for technical best practices, and disseminate industry knowledge within the Solutions Engineering group.
- Maintain an expert-level understanding of the LaunchDarkly platform, its integrations, industry trends, and new technological advancements.
- Address requests for proposals and manage technical environments to bolster enterprise sales initiatives.
- Convert complex client requirements into practical, scalable, and sustainable technical solutions.
- Represent LaunchDarkly at industry conferences and client meetings, which may require travel.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 12 years of experience in a customer-facing role within solutions engineering, sales engineering, or systems architecture.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms, with proven expertise in at least one major provider, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and document proof-of-concept initiatives and foster technical champions within client organizations.
- Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks, including PII, PCI, and HIPAA.
- Extensive experience in areas such as the software development lifecycle (SDLC), cloud architecture, or DevOps practices.
- Outstanding communication and presentation abilities, with a track record of sharing insights within the industry.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
Nice to have
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and project management frameworks.
- Previous experience in a startup environment or fast-paced technology company.
- Understanding of feature flagging and experimentation methodologies.

- Zone 1 (San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC Metro, Boston, Seattle): $240,000 - $330,000
- Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago): $216,000 - $297,000
- Zone 3 (All other US locations): $204,000 - $281,000
These figures represent the base salary and do not include Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, dental insurance, or mental health benefits. Actual compensation may vary based on individual skills, experience, and geographical location.
