About the role
Komodo Health is on the lookout for a Director of Corporate Security who will be responsible for assessing and enhancing our internal security measures. This pivotal role reports directly to the CFO and demands a strategic leader who can navigate both overarching security strategies and detailed operational tasks to safeguard our systems, data, and personnel.

What you'll do
- Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate security strategy that encompasses identity management, endpoint security, SaaS protection, and incident response protocols.
- Create and uphold security frameworks, policies, and performance metrics for reporting to the board and ensuring audit compliance.
- Oversee security operations, including SIEM monitoring, EDR/MDR solutions, and email security, to enhance detection capabilities and response times.
- Collaborate with the IT department to streamline processes for user provisioning, deprovisioning, and access governance.
- Formulate and enforce governance policies for the use of internal enterprise AI, focusing on SSO, RBAC, and data management standards.
- Lead and nurture a high-performing security team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Act as the representative for the security program during investor due diligence, customer evaluations, and regulatory inquiries.
- Conduct regular assessments of the security landscape to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate measures.
- Engage with external security vendors and partners to enhance the organization's security posture.
- Stay abreast of the latest security trends and threats to ensure that the organization remains proactive in its security efforts.
- Prepare and present security reports and updates to executive leadership and the board of directors.
- Drive initiatives to promote security awareness and best practices across the organization.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate or IT security at the Director level or in a comparable role.
- At least 5 years of experience in leading and developing security teams.
- Demonstrated success in building or enhancing security programs in both fast-paced startup environments and established, regulated organizations.
- In-depth knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM), endpoint security, SaaS security, and incident response strategies.
- Practical experience with SIEM, EDR/MDR, and IAM platforms.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and the associated audit processes.
- Experience in the healthcare or life sciences sectors, particularly in environments handling sensitive PHI/PII data.
- Strong ability to communicate technical risks in a manner that resonates with executive stakeholders and aligns with business objectives.
Nice to have
- Experience in scaling security operations through Series C to E funding rounds or during pre-IPO phases.
- Knowledge of managing Apple devices and navigating mixed-device environments.
- Skills in security automation to improve efficiency in threat detection and response.
- Experience in managing distributed teams with a significant reliance on SaaS solutions.
- Background in evaluating and overseeing enterprise security vendors to ensure optimal performance and compliance.

Practical notes
- Salary for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City ranges from $237,000 to $290,000 USD.
- For all other locations within the United States, the salary ranges from $206,000 to $260,000 USD.
