About the role
Klaviyo is on the lookout for an experienced Director of Events to spearhead the strategy and execution of our event initiatives. This includes overseeing our flagship user conference, K:BOS, as well as our participation in key industry gatherings such as NRF, Shoptalk, and eTail. The successful candidate will manage a substantial budget and lead a dedicated team, focusing on creating impactful experiences that enhance brand visibility and contribute to pipeline development.

What you'll do
- Develop and implement a detailed annual event strategy that encompasses owned events, third-party engagements, and internal programs.
- Manage a multi-million-dollar budget, which includes forecasting, vendor negotiations, and overseeing agency contracts.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Senior Events Manager and various event contractors, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, product marketing, and customer success teams to ensure that event objectives align with the overall goals of the company.
- Oversee the promotional lifecycle for events, which includes creating microsites, managing paid media campaigns, and facilitating internal enablement efforts.
- Present key performance metrics and investment proposals to executive leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment with business goals.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations to ensure that our event presence remains competitive and forward-thinking.
- Evaluate and refine event strategies based on feedback and performance data to continuously improve the attendee experience.
- Coordinate logistics and operational details for events, ensuring execution from planning through to post-event analysis.
- Cultivate relationships with industry partners and stakeholders to enhance event offerings and drive co-branding opportunities.
- Lead efforts to gather and analyze attendee feedback to inform future event planning and strategy adjustments.
Requirements
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in event management, ideally within a B2B SaaS or consumer brand context.
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role, demonstrating the ability to manage and inspire a team.
- Proven track record of successfully managing partnerships and co-branding initiatives.
- Experience leading agencies and external production teams to meet high operational and creative standards.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and present effectively to senior executives.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time for events and meetings.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with event management platforms such as Splash and Swoogo.
- Experience utilizing AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude to enhance event planning and execution.
- Knowledge of Salesforce and its application in event management and marketing efforts.

Practical notes
- The base salary for this position ranges from $164,000 to $246,000 USD, reflecting the candidate's experience and qualifications.
