A/V Project Manager

About the Role

Kelso Industries is seeking an Audio Visual (A/V) Project Manager to own the full project lifecycle for A/V engagements. In this role, you will guide each project from initial contact through final delivery, making decisions on scope, schedule, and quality. You will translate client needs into practical technical plans while rigorously protecting budget and timelines. This position requires clear judgment, leadership, and a commitment to structured execution.

The role is based in Clearwater, Florida, and involves project-based work with direct and frequent client interaction. You will be responsible for managing complex AV installations and ensuring successful project outcomes. The compensation for this position is $105,000.00 per year.

Key Responsibilities

You will design intake workflows to capture client goals and constraints before any work begins. This initial phase is critical for defining project parameters and setting clear expectations. You will shape technical builds by coordinating vendors, schedules, and site constraints for complex AV installations.

Running review checkpoints to verify system performance and alignment with project specifications is a core duty. You will ship solutions that meet agreed timelines while staying within budget and adhering to safety expectations. Partnering with facilities and operations teams will be essential to support ongoing client satisfaction after project handover.

Leading change management on scope or schedule is required, including documenting impacts and securing approvals promptly. You will own risk tracking and issue resolution, reducing surprises through structured monitoring and proactive planning. Closing projects will involve training, documentation, and a clean hand-off so internal teams can operate confidently.

Requirements

You must have at least three years of experience managing A/V projects in demanding environments. Demonstrated ability to handle budgets, timelines, and stakeholder expectations simultaneously is essential. Strong knowledge of AV systems, control methods, and integration principles gained through field experience is required.

Excellent communication skills are necessary for client discussions, vendor coordination, and team leadership. You must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.

Nice to Have

Experience serving as the main contact for client communications during complex projects is valued. This includes managing client expectations and serving as the primary liaison throughout the engagement.

Skills & Tools

Proficiency in project management practices is required. A strong understanding of AV technologies and vendor coordination is essential. The ability to produce clear documentation and communicate effectively across all levels of an organization is critical for success.

What you'll do

Kelso Industries builds scientific research vessels for government marine operations. The company name honors the late Dr John Kelso, a scientist with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. This background is reflected in the design of vessels built to support fisheries research and water quality work. The lead vessel is a "Near Shore Fisheries Research Vessel" used for trawls, box core sampling, bottom sampling, and water quality sampling. It was commissioned in 2009 and built by ABCO Industries Lunenburg Shipyard. The vessel was ordered by the Canadian Coast Guard to replace the retiring CCGS Shark and operates from CGS Base Burlington in the Central and Arctic Region. The ship has a maximum speed near 16 knots and a cruising speed near 14 knots. Fuel capacity is about 2,848 litres, with additional water storage of 500 litres. Accommodation includes seating for ten passengers and a crew of three. This configuration supports day trips and focused research campaigns in coastal and nearshore waters.
