What you'll do
- Conduct thorough inspections of construction materials, including concrete, asphalt, soil, and aggregates, to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Perform field tests and laboratory analyses on various materials to assess their properties and suitability for use in public works projects.
- Document inspection results and test findings meticulously, preparing detailed reports that outline compliance or deviations from project specifications.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to address any material-related issues that may arise during the construction process.

- Monitor construction sites to ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations during material handling and testing.

- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to provide insights and updates on material testing and inspection processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, materials science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in materials testing or public works inspection.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in materials testing or public works inspection, preferably in a construction or engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, testing methods, and relevant industry standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.).
- Proficiency in using testing equipment and software for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various job sites as required.
Nice to have
- Certification from a recognized professional organization related to materials testing or public works inspection (e.g., ACI, ICC).
- Experience with geotechnical investigations and soil testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with project management software and tools.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable construction practices.
- Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
