What you'll do
- Conduct thorough safety inspections and audits on construction sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures tailored to specific project needs and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on safety practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with project managers to assess risks associated with construction activities and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Act as a liaison between the company and regulatory agencies, ensuring all safety practices meet local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety programs and initiatives across the organization.
- Monitor the effectiveness of safety measures and adjust strategies as necessary to enhance overall safety performance.
- Stay updated on industry trends, safety technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive.
- Support the development of safety-related materials for project proposals and presentations to clients.
- Foster a culture of safety by encouraging open communication about safety concerns and recognizing employees who demonstrate exemplary safety practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management within the construction industry.
- Certification in safety management, such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Proven ability to conduct safety audits and risk assessments effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
