As a Senior Estimator specializing in infrastructure projects at Jhlconstructors, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial aspects of our construction endeavors. What you'll do
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for a variety of infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, and utilities, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to gather necessary information and clarify project requirements, facilitating a smooth estimating process.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns.
- Conduct market research to assess material costs, labor rates, and other expenses, ensuring estimates reflect current market conditions.
- Prepare and present detailed bid proposals to clients, highlighting the value and advantages of Jhlconstructors' services.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather additional information and address any potential concerns.
- Monitor project progress and adjust estimates as necessary, ensuring alignment with project changes and scope adjustments.
- Maintain a database of historical cost data and estimating metrics to improve the accuracy of future estimates.
- Mentor junior estimators and provide guidance on best practices in cost estimation and project analysis.
- Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines, ensuring that estimates align with overall project goals.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to identify and source materials and subcontractors that meet project specifications and budgetary constraints.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating department, identifying areas for increased efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating for infrastructure projects, with a proven track record of successful bids.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards related to infrastructure development.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, or similar applications.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project documents and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in all estimating tasks.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and permitting processes in Colorado.
Nice to have
- Professional certification such as Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or similar credentials.
- Experience with sustainable construction practices and green building standards.
- Knowledge of advanced estimating techniques, including value engineering and life-cycle costing.
- Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role within an estimating team.
- Familiarity with project management software, such as Procore or Primavera P6.

- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with construction management software and tools to streamline estimating processes.
- Excellent mathematical skills for precise calculations and financial assessments.
- Ability to utilize project management tools for tracking progress and managing timelines effectively.
