What you'll do
- Lead the design and analysis of thermal and fluid systems, ensuring they meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models to simulate and analyze fluid flow and heat transfer in various applications.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to integrate thermal and fluid systems into larger projects.
- Conduct experiments and tests to validate theoretical models and improve system performance.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices in thermal and fluid engineering.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Participate in project planning and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of engineering solutions.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in thermal and fluid engineering to drive innovation within the team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to thermal and fluid systems during the design and operational phases.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations throughout the engineering process.

- Manage project documentation and maintain accurate records of engineering processes and outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in thermal and fluid engineering, with a proven track record of leading projects.
- Proficiency in CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL Multiphysics, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics principles.
- Experience with experimental methods and data analysis techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex technical information.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and mentor junior staff.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to thermal and fluid systems.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position due to government contract obligations.
Nice to have
- Experience in the aerospace or defense industries, particularly with thermal management systems for spacecraft or military applications.
- Knowledge of advanced materials and their thermal properties.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
- Certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) is a plus.
