About the role

The Events Lead at Investottawabayviewyards will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing a diverse range of events that promote community engagement and business development. This full-time position requires a creative and organized individual who can manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring that each event aligns with the organization's strategic goals. What you'll do

Develop and implement a comprehensive events strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and objectives.
Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of events, including workshops, conferences, networking gatherings, and community outreach initiatives.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure that all events are well-organized and effectively promoted.
Manage event budgets, ensuring that all expenditures are tracked and reported accurately.
Source and negotiate contracts with vendors, venues, and speakers to secure the best possible arrangements for each event.
Oversee event logistics, including venue setup, catering, audio-visual requirements, and attendee registration.
Develop promotional materials and utilize social media and other channels to maximize event attendance and engagement.
Conduct post-event evaluations to assess the success of each event and gather feedback for future improvements.
Foster relationships with community stakeholders, sponsors, and participants to enhance collaboration and support for future events.
Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in event management to continually improve the quality of events.
Lead a team of volunteers or interns during events to ensure smooth operations and a positive experience for all attendees.
Prepare detailed reports on event outcomes, including attendance metrics, financial performance, and participant feedback.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in event planning and execution, preferably in a corporate or non-profit environment.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
Proficiency in event management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in budget management and financial reporting related to events.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by event schedules.
A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle may be required for off-site events.

Nice to have

Certification in event planning or project management (e.g., CMP, PMP) is a plus.
Familiarity with digital marketing strategies and tools to promote events effectively.
Experience in working with community organizations or local government entities.
Knowledge of the Ottawa region and its community dynamics.
Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
