Interpath Laboratory in Boise, Idaho, is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our team. What you'll do
Perform high-complexity and moderate-complexity laboratory testing on patient specimens with precision and adherence to standardized protocols.
Conduct phlebotomy duties exclusively for neighboring hospital assignments when on-call, ensuring proper specimen collection and chain of custody.
Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on advanced laboratory instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
Analyze test results, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to maintain the highest standards of quality control.
Collaborate with pathologists and healthcare providers to communicate critical findings and support timely diagnosis and treatment.
Maintain strict compliance with CLIA, CAP, and OSHA regulations to ensure a safe and audit-ready laboratory environment.
Manage workflow priorities effectively to meet turnaround time requirements without compromising accuracy or safety.
Provide backup coverage for laboratory services during staff absences or peak testing periods as required.
Utilize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) to document procedures, track samples, and generate accurate reports.
Participate in ongoing training and proficiency testing to stay current with evolving standards and emerging technologies.
Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives by identifying trends and implementing corrective measures.
Assist in inventory management and proper handling of reagents, controls, and laboratory supplies.
Support departmental goals related to productivity, accuracy, and customer service excellence.
Perform additional laboratory-related duties as assigned by the department leadership.
Requirements
Hold an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology for MLT candidates or a bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related laboratory science program for MLS candidates.
Possess current ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) prior to employment.
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with healthcare teams and laboratory personnel.
Comply with all facility policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards at all times.
Commit to a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with the healthcare industry.
Able to perform duties safely, including the physical demands of standing, lifting, and repetitive motions.
Willingness to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as laboratory coverage needs require.
