Key facts
What you'll do
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical lines and equipment to identify potential issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to plan and execute electrical installations, ensuring timely completion of projects.
- Operate specialized tools and equipment, including bucket trucks, diggers, and cable splicing tools, to perform electrical work efficiently and safely.
- Respond to emergency call-outs for electrical faults or outages, providing prompt and effective solutions to restore service.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior linesworkers and apprentices, fostering a culture of learning and safety within the team.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Bamboohr's safety policies and procedures, promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to communicate project progress, address concerns, and provide updates on electrical services.
- Assist in the development of project estimates and budgets, contributing to the overall financial success of electrical projects.
- Engage in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities to identify root causes of electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Linesworker or in a similar electrical role, with a minimum of 3 years in the field.
- Valid electrical trade qualification and relevant licenses, including a current electrical worker's license.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, safety standards, and best practices in the industry.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions, demonstrating physical fitness and stamina.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and clients.
- A commitment to safety and a proactive approach to risk management in all aspects of work.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency situations as needed.
- Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and tools, including multimeters, insulation resistance testers, and cable locators.
Nice to have
- Experience with renewable energy systems, such as solar or wind power installations.
- Knowledge of advanced electrical technologies, including smart grids and automation systems.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an electrical team.
- Certification in first aid and CPR, enhancing workplace safety.
- Familiarity with project management software and tools to assist in project planning and execution.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in the use of electrical tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, and specialized machinery.
- Strong technical skills in electrical theory, circuit design, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Familiarity with electrical codes and regulations specific to New South Wales and Australia.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
