What you'll do

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance our image processing technology.
Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate creative ideas that drive product improvements and new features.
Assist in the design and development of software applications that optimize image rendering and delivery.
Conduct thorough testing and debugging of applications to ensure high performance and reliability.
Contribute to the documentation of software processes and technical specifications to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
Engage in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation within our products.
Support the onboarding and mentoring of new team members, sharing your expertise and insights to help them integrate smoothly into the team.
Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to understand customer needs and translate them into technical requirements for product development.
Participate in regular team meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions, ensuring alignment with company goals.
Assist in the preparation of presentations and demonstrations for stakeholders to showcase new features and capabilities.
Contribute to the overall team culture by promoting a positive work environment and encouraging open communication.

Requirements

A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, with a strong understanding of software development principles.
Experience with image processing technologies and frameworks, demonstrating a solid grasp of the challenges and solutions in this domain.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and services, particularly those related to image storage and processing.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

Nice to have

Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in image processing.
Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git, to manage code changes and collaborate with other developers.
Knowledge of web development technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to contribute to front-end development efforts.
Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn.
Understanding of user experience (UX) principles to enhance the usability of our applications.

Skills & tools

Candidates should be comfortable using a variety of tools and technologies, including but not limited to:

Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as Visual Studio Code or PyCharm.
Project management tools like Jira or Trello for task tracking and collaboration.
Cloud services such as AWS or Azure for deploying and managing applications.
Image processing libraries and frameworks, including OpenCV or TensorFlow, to enhance image handling capabilities.

This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is offered on a term basis.
