What you'll do

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for image and video processing challenges.
Participate in the design and implementation of scalable software systems that enhance our platform's capabilities.
Conduct thorough testing and debugging of applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Assist in the maintenance and improvement of existing codebases, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
Engage in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, integrating them into our workflows when applicable.
Contribute to the documentation of processes, systems, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
Support the onboarding of new team members by sharing your expertise and insights into our development processes.
Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions, contributing your ideas to enhance project outcomes.
Collaborate with product managers to understand user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Assist in the development of user interfaces that are both functional and visually appealing, ensuring a seamless user experience.
Engage with clients and stakeholders to gather feedback and refine our offerings based on their needs.

Requirements

A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, with a strong understanding of object-oriented design principles.
Experience with cloud platforms and services, particularly AWS or Azure, is highly desirable.
Familiarity with image and video processing techniques and libraries, such as OpenCV or FFmpeg.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.

Nice to have

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
Knowledge of front-end frameworks like React or Angular for developing user interfaces.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
Previous experience in a similar role within the tech industry, particularly in image processing or media technology.
Understanding of machine learning concepts and their application in image and video analysis.

Skills & tools

Proficient in software development tools such as Git for version control and collaboration.
Familiarity with integrated development environments (IDEs) like Visual Studio Code or JetBrains products.
Experience with project management tools such as Jira or Trello to track progress and manage tasks effectively.
Knowledge of database systems, both SQL and NoSQL, for managing and retrieving data efficiently.
Ability to work with APIs and web services to integrate various systems and enhance functionality.

This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and may require occasional in-office presence depending on project needs.
