Key facts
What you'll do
- Provide legal advice on a wide range of corporate matters, including contract negotiation, intellectual property, and compliance with local and international regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, including contracts, service agreements, and licensing agreements, ensuring they align with company policies and legal standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and product development, to identify legal risks and provide strategic solutions.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations and advise relevant stakeholders on necessary adjustments.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support business initiatives and ensure the company remains compliant with industry standards.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and coordinate legal support for various projects and initiatives.
- Develop and implement internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
- Provide training and guidance to employees on legal issues, including compliance training and risk management strategies.
- Assist in the resolution of disputes and claims, including managing litigation and alternative dispute resolution processes when necessary.
- Support the company's corporate governance activities, including board meetings and shareholder communications.
- Participate in mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions, providing legal insight and support throughout the process.
- Contribute to Hycu's overall risk management strategy by identifying potential legal risks and developing mitigation plans.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in Massachusetts.
- A minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably in-house or at a law firm, with a focus on corporate law and technology.
- Strong understanding of intellectual property law, data privacy regulations, and compliance requirements in the tech industry.
- Excellent negotiation and drafting skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical legal solutions.
- Experience managing external legal counsel and overseeing legal projects.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all legal matters.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with software licensing agreements and SaaS business models.
- Experience in data protection laws, including GDPR and CCPA.
- Knowledge of employment law and related compliance issues.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in legal research tools and software, such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Familiarity with contract management systems and document automation tools.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools like Slack and Zoom.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and legal software as needed.
