Join our Backend Platform team to build and maintain the infrastructure and services that support our product development organization. What you'll do

• Design and build software including automation, libraries, services, and scripts to solve complex platform challenges.
• Ensure the security, integrity, and reliability of our cloud-based platform through rigorous testing and proactive monitoring.
• Participate in a flexible on-call rotation to support production services and respond to incidents promptly.
• Lead project milestones, epics, and features from conception through successful delivery and post-launch review.
• Develop automation to reduce repetitive tasks and alert noise, improving efficiency for platform consumers.
• Maintain, upgrade, and migrate existing platform features while managing technical debt and ensuring backward compatibility.
• Diagnose and repair distributed systems issues using logs, metrics, and traces to identify root causes quickly.
• Provide tools, templates, and best practices to support the software development lifecycle across engineering teams.
• Mentor team members through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and demos to ensure clarity and consistency of platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to align platform roadmaps with business objectives.
• Evaluate new technologies and propose improvements to enhance platform performance and developer experience.
• Implement observability strategies to gain insight into system behavior and support data-driven decisions.
• Drive standardization efforts to create consistent patterns for building and deploying services on the platform.

Requirements

• Hold a Degree in Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Bring a Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles in professional settings.
• Demonstrate a track record of contributing to high-impact software projects that influenced product outcomes.
• Show experience writing performant code at scale within a SaaS environment under realistic constraints.
• Exhibit Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools for cloud environments such as Terraform or similar platforms.
• Prove strong collaboration skills with a focus on team-oriented results and cross-functional cooperation.
• Possess a solid understanding of software development principles and operational best practices.
• Display ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team with strong written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in backend development and DevOps, specifically creating tools for other developers to increase their productivity.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure maintenance and Linux systems administration in production environments.
• Experience with networking concepts spanning L3-L7, basic monitoring, and troubleshooting system-level issues.
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies for cloud-native applications.
• Understanding of security fundamentals and compliance considerations for SaaS platforms.

Skills & tools

• Languages: Go, Scala, PHP with a strong grasp of language-specific idioms and ecosystem.
• Infrastructure: AWS, Kafka, and Infrastructure-as-code tools to define and manage cloud resources.
• Systems: Linux with experience in shell scripting, process management, and system tuning.

Practical notes

• Salary range: $115,400 to $161,600 CAD.
