About the role
Hiive is redefining how private companies and their shareholders access liquidity through its institutional-grade platform that facilitates secondary transactions in venture-backed, pre-IPO companies. In this capacity, you will be an integral part of the finance team, owning the end-to-end execution of complex accounting activities that underpin the business. Your work will directly support the enhancement and streamlining of Purchases, Payables, and Payments functions while ensuring rigorous data accuracy across all business systems. You will prepare intricate accounting entries and oversee intercompany allocations, thereby maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity. This role involves close collaboration across cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements and reconcile critical financial data. Additionally, you will contribute to the preparation of financial statements and the management of tax and regulatory returns. You will also handle ad-hoc finance projects as they arise, demonstrating flexibility and analytical rigor.

What you'll do
- Execute the preparation of complex accounting entries, encompassing intercompany transactions, lease accounting, fixed asset management, prepaid expenses, tax provisions, and other specialized accounting areas.
- Drive enhancements and streamline the end-to-end Purchases, Payables, and Payments processes from both a procedural and system optimization perspective.
- Provide critical support for Revenue, Receivables, and Receipts workflows, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in cash application and billing cycles.
- Partner with technology and finance stakeholders on business system implementations, reconciliations, and data integrity initiatives to maintain a single source of truth.
- Assume ownership of preparing detailed journal entries and conducting comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations, including complex intercompany allocations.
- Deliver support for the preparation of monthly financial statements, annual tax returns, and other regulatory filings or audit responses in a compliant manner.
- Lead and manage ad-hoc finance projects, conducting in-depth analysis and presenting findings to support strategic business decisions.
- Interface with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate smooth audit processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and improve the efficiency of month-end close activities, identifying bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions.
- Act as a subject matter expert within the finance department, providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members on best practices.
- Maintain strict adherence to internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to analyze financial impacts and support pricing or contract negotiations where applicable.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Possess three or more years of progressive accounting experience, with prior exposure to audit functions being a distinct advantage.
- Have obtained or be actively pursuing the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, demonstrating commitment to professional excellence.
- Exhibit advanced proficiency in core Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace for collaborative productivity.
- Bring hands-on experience with enterprise financial software such as Quickbooks Online, Netsuite, or Sage Intacct, which are considered significant assets.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of managing full-cycle accounting duties with minimal supervision.
- Apply strong technical accounting knowledge to navigate complex transactions and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data across multiple systems.
