About the role
Heron Power is looking for a dedicated Senior/Staff G&A Recruiter to join the team as the company's first talent acquisition specialist focused on general and administrative functions. This role is critical in building and scaling the company's teams by sourcing, attracting, and hiring top talent across a broad range of functions, including product, finance, accounting, HR, operations, supply chain, and partnerships. As a key member of the hiring team, you will partner closely with the Head of Talent, hiring managers, and leadership to develop effective recruiting strategies, manage the full-cycle hiring process, and contribute to Heron Power's growth and success. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment, demonstrating resourcefulness, strong communication skills, and a passion for building high-performing teams that support the company's mission to innovate power electronics for the 21st-century grid.

What you'll do
- Lead the entire recruiting process for G&A and business functions, managing each stage from sourcing candidates to extending offers, ensuring a smooth and efficient hiring experience.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Talent, hiring managers, and leadership to understand hiring needs, define role requirements, and develop tailored recruiting strategies aligned with company goals.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with executive team members and hiring managers, acting as a trusted advisor on talent acquisition and market insights.
- Proactively source candidates through multiple channels, including job boards, social media, networking, and passive sourcing techniques, to identify high-quality talent beyond the obvious platforms.
- Craft compelling presentations and communications to candidates, effectively conveying Heron Power's mission, vision, and the significance of each role to attract top talent.
- Coordinate and facilitate structured interview loops, ensuring a consistent and fair evaluation process, and track candidate progress within the applicant tracking system (ATS).
- Lead debrief sessions with hiring managers and leadership teams to gather feedback, assess candidate fit, and make informed hiring decisions.
- Manage offer negotiations and closing processes, working collaboratively with hiring managers and candidates to reach mutually beneficial agreements.
- Continuously evaluate and improve recruiting workflows, candidate experience, and internal systems to support scaling efforts and ensure best practices.
- Support the development of scalable recruiting infrastructure, including building processes, templates, and tools from scratch if necessary.
- Contribute to employer branding initiatives to position Heron Power as an attractive employer within the industry.
- Assist in developing talent pipelines for future hiring needs, maintaining relationships with potential candidates for critical roles.
- Participate in team meetings, share insights on market trends, and help shape the overall talent acquisition strategy for the company.
- Stay informed about industry trends, compensation benchmarks, and competitive hiring practices to ensure Heron Power remains an employer of choice.
- Support diversity and inclusion initiatives by sourcing diverse candidate pools and promoting equitable hiring practices.
- Act as a brand ambassador for Heron Power at industry events, job fairs, and networking opportunities to attract potential candidates.
Requirements
- 4-8+ years of successful full-cycle recruiting experience, including G&A or business functions, whether in agency, RPO, or in-house environments.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate both technical expertise and cultural fit with nuance and clarity.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence and build rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven resourcefulness in sourcing candidates beyond traditional channels, including passive sourcing techniques.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage multiple competing priorities efficiently in a fast-paced startup setting.
- High analytical horsepower with a data-driven approach to recruitment and continuous improvement.
- Genuine enthusiasm for recruiting and building teams that contribute to a rapidly growing organization.
- Experience working in or understanding the energy, hardware, or industrial engineering sectors is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and recruiting tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Practical notes
This position is based on-site in Scotts Valley, California. Heron Power offers competitive compensation, including salary, equity, and benefits. The salary range for this role is from $140,000 to $180,000. As the first G&A recruiter, you will play a vital role in shaping the company's talent acquisition strategy and building the foundational teams that will support its mission to develop innovative power electronics solutions for the modern grid.
